Gene Farris is one of Chicago’s dance music icons and has spiritedly contributed to the evolving house and techno culture around the globe. His music and his Djing began to get heavy notice and recognition in the golden era of the 90’s, playing warehouse parties in Chicago and eventually worldwide. He is currently one of Chicago's top DJ’s and has been nominated for best DJ 2016 at the Chicago Nightlife Awards. Gene was number 9 on Traxsource's top Tech House artists of 2015 and he is still on the rise. His productions are well known and are played in the sets of some of the hottest DJ’s in the world such as Loco Dice, Carl Cox, and Green Velvet - on whose Relief Records, Gene has produced over 20 songs, including 2015’s club anthem “We Work It” with Sonny Fodera. “Move Your Body”, also on Relief, was charted by the Martinez Bros., Simon Dunmore, and Green Velvet. In 2016, Gene shows no signs of slowing down at all. He has already begun the year with two number 1's on Traxsource; “Time” (Relief) and “Black Licorice”, which was released on Gene’s own label imprint Farris Wheel Recordings. Gene has run the label since 1998 and it has released music from top shelf producers such as Sonny Fodera, Glenn Underground, DJ Mes, Demarkus Lewis, and Greenskeepers.
Gene is releasing an album this year on Relief Records with collaborations from some of the world's best artists such as Loco Dice, Green Velvet, Doorly, Jesse Rose, Sonny Fodera, and Nathan Barato just to name a few. Expect 2016 to take him further still.
